The Kansas Project: Concept Development
For the last few weeks we’ve been exploring how the concept sketching we’ve been working on for The Kansas Project can be translated three dimensionally. We start with basic massing that is determined by major program elements, then make additive and subtractive interventions based on ideas that relate to views, sustainability, shelter and circulation. This exercise has allowed us to begin to imagine built form, though this form will change as design evolves.
Obviously this work advances and builds upon the diagramming that we discussed in our previous post on Concept Sketching. While that work was mostly considered in plan, it is important to quickly begin considering the design in both section and elevation as well; modelling is an initial move in that direction.
